April Ross

April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball stars to capture medals at multiple Olympics. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll attempt to win her third gold medal along with first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross is determined to earn more than her first Olympic medal. This may be the last chance she'll ever have when she turns 39. She remains confident though that the top honours will be within reach. If we play our best or even play properly, I'm sure we'll get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Also, I am going try to be a little fortunate. Ross Born in 1982, and lived within Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began taking part in athletics at Newport Harbor High School. She went on to compete in many activities at Newport Harbor High School. Being a pre-athlete, she was also a participant in indoor track and volleyball. However she was clearly a cut above the rest in the latter sport. As a time at the high school level as per her college information, she played as middle blocker, an outside settingter, and hitter. To honor her effort she was honoured as the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. In 2000, she received the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman started their partnership in 2017, however Ross was a renowned athlete on the beach for a long time before. She has played a significant role on the beach for a long time. In fact, Ross took home several titles, and even one that was won by a famous volleyball star. From 2007-2013 she played alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Together, Kessy Ross, she was a major force in the international scene, winning the world championship in 2009. In 2012, the team took silver in London's Olympics. They were eliminated for the gold by the famous team consisting of Misty June-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. In 2016, the pair took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a college player who played for the Trojans at USC before beginning her pro career. She played in high school, and before hitting the beach as a professional. Ross's Trojans experience was awe-inspiring. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman, and NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she experienced a devastating personal tragedy, yet managed to be a second All-American. In her last two years she led the Trojans on a climb and took home consecutive national championships. In her own way Ross established her status as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the highest female collegiate player from the United States. Ross majored in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross didn't see her daughter reach the top of the beach volleyball world. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001. Ross was still an USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. However, she continues to cherish her missing parent with love and close. Margie is an ever-present source of inspiration to her, both in and out on the beach.
